Here’s our best lawn sweeper reviews 2020 winner:
If I didn’t already have it, I would definitely invest my money in Agri Fab 45 0492. It’s the best lawn sweeper I had the chance to try and it has all you need for quick and thorough lawn cleaning.
With the 24 cubic feet hopper and 44” wide brushes, you can cover a lot in one take. Being from a reputable company, it’s sturdy, easy to assemble and clean and it takes small storage space and it’s #1 in for a reason.
Having your own lawn is very rewarding, but it also requires work to keep it neat, that’s why I want to help you with your needs. Raking your lawn every time some leaves fall down can be tiring and you probably don’t want to throw money to the professional every week or so.
The best ones will collect leaves, twigs, pinecones, and branches to its hopper and keep your grass tidy and healthy. I’ve tried a lot of sweepers on my 8 000 SQ. feet lawn and did quite a bit of research. So I wanted to share 8 reviews for everyone looking for one.
Best lawn sweeper reviews 2020
When investing in a sweeper you should make sure to get the best model for your money. That’s why, before you make a purchase, I want to show you my top lawn sweeper reviews where you can see what exactly will you get for your money.
I tried to make lawn sweeper reviews with different demands in mind (budget, lawn size, terrain), but you can also skip everything and go straight to my #1 choice.
This Agri Fab 45-0320 is a small and sturdy tow behind lawn sweeper, ideal for tractor owners with less spacious lawns. It has a 42” sweep, collecting all the debris into the adjustable 12 cubic feet hopper.
The hopper can be collapsed flat and save space while being stored. There’s also a neat little windscreen on top of it, making sure that the leaves don’t escape back to the grass.
You can also empty it without even dismounting the mower with a neat rope handle. We all know how annoying it is to get down every time the hopper fills up. The brushing system is protected with a durable steel housing making the last longer.
This tow behind lawn sweeper also works only while going forward, so you can reverse without making a mess. Its dimensions are 50.8” x 22” x 15” and weighs 73 pounds. What I didn’t like about this Agri Fab model is the small volume of the hopper, but the easy release handle makes up for it.
- Quick release handle
- 3-year warranty
- Easy to store
- Limited capacity
- Not great for grass clippings
A push lawn sweeper is a great alternative if you don’t have a tractor or a mower to tow the sweeper with. Of course, you will not cover as much as with bigger, tow lawn mowers from my lawn mower reviews.
However, you will also pay only a fraction of the price and it’s still is a massive upgrade overraking. This practical, 21” wide, green Yardwise 23630-yx sweeper is extremely lightweight and easy to push around your lawn. Its 26-gallon hopper is easily removable and can be emptied in seconds. This model is actually foldable and you can just hang it up when done.
This compact (44” x 30” x 28”) also comes with handy dial for height adjustment to different terrains. It may not be the best choice, but it’s worth the price. I only don’t like that it can toss some leaves outside the hopper, especially if it’s windy or you’re moving too fast.
- Extremely affordable
- Lightweight and easy to push
- Easily storable
- Easy to put together
- Small bag
- Leaves sometimes miss the bag
Agri Fab featuring another push lawn sweeper on this list of best lawn mower reviews for 2018. This Agri Fab model costs a bit more than the previous push lawn sweeper, but it’s not without a reason. It covers 26” inches while sweeping and the hopper has a much bigger capacity of 7 cubic feet.
Emptying the hopper is quick since it’s easily detachable. The housing is made of zinc-plated steel frame and it’s made to endure a lot of beating over the years. Hide within is a sweeper that can be adjusted to the desired height, depending on the debris quantity or terrain height.
It weighs only 25 pounds and you can fold it and hang it up in your garage or shed when done with it. All in all, it’s a good solution for smaller lawns, but it would be a nightmare to cover larger spaces with it with all the pushing and emptying.
- Lightweight and easy to handle
- Quick and easy emptying
- Adjustable height
- Very affordable
- Requires pushing
- Small capacity
As you can see, Agri Fab company is pretty dominant in these reviews. This time, it’s another tow behind lawn sweeper from a company that specializes in lawn and garden tools and machines. The major advantage of this heavy-duty lawn sweeper is its width and capacity, covering a 52” sweep and holding up to 27 cubic feet of debris.
The hopper also comes with a neat rope for quick emptying. If you have a really massive lawn and don’t mind the price this may be the best choice. Six efficient brushes are protected behind a durable steel housing and can also be adjusted for the performance you want.
Another great thing about it is that you can add a de-thatcher for more thorough sweeping of your lawn. Its huge size (72” x 38” x 61”) makes this one perhaps the quickest on the list, but I didn’t like the price and the quality of the hopper could be a bit better.
- Heavy-duty and sturdy
- Huge capacity
- Easy to assemble
- Wide 52” sweep
- Brushes always active
- Hopper could be better
If you still want a big lawn sweeper but work on a tighter budget, then you might want to check out this Ohio Steel rig. It may not be very high on this list, but it does a good job at a reasonable price.
This 50” wide, pull behind lawn sweeper covers that width 11” spiraled polypropylene brushes. The brushes are a patented feature, exclusive for the Ohio Steel models, which turns on a 4.5 to 1 brush to wheel ratio.
It’s 26 cubic feet heavy-duty hopper is extremely practical. There’s a rope handle for quick release on it and you can also completely remove it for easier storage. Also, the hitch can be switched between 5 positions, depending on your towing vehicle.
It deserves its spot on this list for its reliability and good price. However, it is really bulky so it’s not a good choice if you don’t have a lot of space.
- Heavy duty
- Patented spiral brush design
- 26 cubic feet capacity
- Takes a lot of space
- No lock on the brushes
This Brinly Lawn sweeper is probably the one that allows the highest speed among these on the list. Such a feature for this tow behind model can be attributed to its uniquely designed 6 high-velocity brushes.
With additional height adjustment, the brushes provide maximum debris sweeping, even at higher speeds. Like with most of the models on this list, the width of the sweep is 42 inches. While the dimensions of the Brinly lawn sweeper are 69 x 53 x 38 inches and it weighs a whole 80 pounds.
We’re now hopping on to the hopper. Like with most of the sweepers on this list, this model also comes with a handy rope for quick release. The hopper on this model can fill up to 20 cubic meters of debris.
You can also get a de-thatcher or an aerator and plug it in for a detailed sweep. This Brinly is built to last and is really a great deal, but you might have some struggles to assemble it when you get it.
- Available dethatcher/aerator
- Easily storable
- Strong and sturdy
- Fairly pricey
- Hopper could be bigger
Here we have another heavy-duty Ohio Steel lawn sweeper on my list. It’s a 42” tow behind model, which is probably the most common size.
Thanks to its size (51” x 18” x 16”) and a big 22 cubic feet hopper you can cover a lot of ground in one take. What’s even better, you can empty the hopper from your seat with a quick-release rope handle. You can even disassemble it when storing it to save space.
It also has a patented spiral brush design that we mentioned before, typical for almost every Ohio Steel sweeper. Another thing typical for their tow-behind models is the multi-hitch that’s adjustable to any tractor or mower.
They are manufactured in the United States and it’s very strong and sturdy. However, I would like it better if the hopper was a bit more elevated from the ground.
- Effective spiral brush design
- Multi-position hitch
- Hopper collapses
- No attachable available
- A bit hard to assemble
There are many reasons why Agri Fab 45 0492 is my top choice. It looks great and works even better, providing you with a great variety of useful features for easier and quicker sweeping.
Its mesh black hopper holds impressive 24 cubic feet and fills more completely than the others, making the disposal less frequent. The emptying is additionally simplified with the improved dump lever which is reachable from your seat.
The tough and durable brushes cover 44 inches and can clean grass clippings, leaves, and even pine cones. It’s one more reason why Agri Fab 45 0492 is my favorite. Not only that, the brushes have an easy to use high adjustment lever for optimum sweeping performance.
The hitch, besides being adjustable to height, can also be off-set, allowing you to mow and sweep the grass up at the same time. It wouldn’t top my best lawn sweeper reviews if it wasn’t easy to store too.
You can fold the hopper and the tongue, thus making an impressively small storage footprint for its size. A de-thatcher can also be added to this 92 pounds sweeper for more detailed sweeping. Even though the instructions are not the best, it’s still easy to assemble with no tools required.
- Wide 44” sweep
- Patented off-set hitch
- High capacity (25 cubic feet)
- Impressively small storage space
- Great price-quality ratio
- Instructions could be better
Now that you know which model to use, let’s see how you need to maintain it. You’ll also see some cool tips on what to look for when buying it and how to use it for the most effective sweeping.
- The regular use: By regularly sweeping your lawn, you will sweep the yard much quicker than with the rakes and won’t scatter the debris like when using a blower. Besides that, you will also keep your mower last longer since there will be fewer things to dull its blades.
- Assembly: If possible, it would be best if it comes already assembled. If it doesn’t, make sure to check how hard it is to assemble and what tools do you need. This can save you a lot of time and it takes a couple of seconds to check it.
- Mulching: Mulching is one of the most underrated measures when it comes to maintenance. By taking the bigger debris apart, you will make the sweeping much more effective and safer for the sweeper saving you time and money.
- Sweeping Speed: You should also watch your tractor speed and make sure that you don’t sweep too. Finding the optimal speed will make your sweeping process quicker than stepping on to the pedal all the way. Also, going too fast on uneven terrain can even damage your sweeper and make the process slower.
- Maintainance: Like with any other tool or machine, you need to check its condition regularly. Every sweeper from these reviews would need to be regularly lubricated in order to run better. Also, every time before storing it, you should clean all the debris from it.
I know how hard can it be to choose the best lawn sweeper, especially if you need to assign a lot of your money to it. There are a lot of products out there and I did my best to narrow your selection down with my lawn sweeper reviews.
