Warmest hunting boots reviews for 2020

I know that it’s not that easy to pick the perfect footwear and that everyone has different needs and tastes. Even though it’s great how many choices we have nowadays it can sometimes make our decision harder. To narrow the choice down, I decided to review some of the best-sellers and most interesting pairs that I either wore myself or tried on a recommendation.

To make these warm hunting boot reviews as useful as possible, I’ve rated them based on materials, performance, comfort, insulation and of course, the warmth they offer. Naturally, the price is also one of the most important factors and I ranked it accordingly, but I left you with plenty of choices there.

6. Baffin Men’s Cold Weather Hunting Boots

Warm waterproof hunting bootsIn case the price is your number one concern, I will start with the most affordable cold weather hunting boots on the list made by Baffin. It is a simple, no-nonsense pair of rubber boots that will keep your feet dry in wet and cold conditions.

These pull-on rubber boots are quite big, so you can wear them with thick socks for extra warmth. Besides the rubber body, the boot also features a toe guard and a drawstring closure at the collar.

They are definitely not the fanciest looking boots, but they get the job done for a very reasonable price.

Note: You should probably get a size smaller than your usual size with this model.
Pros
  • Warm and waterproof
  • Very affordable
  • Comfortable
Cons
  • Not the best looking
  • Sizes too large

5. Bogs Men’s High Handle Warm Waterproof Boots

Warm waterproof bootsHere’s another pair of rubber pull-up warm waterproof boots, this time by Bogs. They come in three different colors or designs, brown, black and camo.

The bottom part is made out of rubber, while the upper part of the boot is made from a breathable material, making them very comfortable and flexible.

This pair will serve you great in muddy, wet or cold conditions and keep your feet safe, warm and dry. Due to its flexible part, your mobility during the hunt won’t be stifled and they are also constructed with Neo-Tech waterproof insulation.

The price is a bit higher than the previous pull-up model on my warm hunting boots reviews, but the quality is much better too.

For a pull-up pair of boots, they look great too.
Pros
  • Comfortable and breathable
  • Durable, waterproof material
  • Keeps your feet dry and odor free
Cons
  • Rough break-in period
  • Too much ankle room

Cold weather hunting bootsSwitching up to leather boots with this amazing pair of cold weather hunting boots by Danner. Brown nylon 1000 gram insulated hunting buds are made from top quality waterproof CamoHide leather.

Full-grain letter toe and heel caps will protect them from rough terrain while you hunt and the Ortholitefootbed will keep your feet comfortable, dry and warm.

The price of these beautiful boots in on the upper end, but you still get a lot for it. I love how they are at the same time lightweight and still extremely durable and warm.

3. Irish Setter Insulated Hunting Boots

Irish setter insulated hunting bootsIf you like your step to be as light as possible then these Irish Setter insulated hunting boots are the right match for you.

Another 1000 gram insulated hunting boots that made list and one of my favorites when it comes to light hunting and camping trips. Despite the lightweight, they are quite durable and warm enough even for the coldest winters.

The Gore-Tex waterproofing technology will make sure that you are protected from rain, puddles or damp areas. You won’t have problems with any terrain thanks to the special Bulls-Eye Air Bob aggressive sole.

Warm and heavy boots usually cause sweat, but Irish Setter insulated hunting boots will keep the odor out with its ScentBan technology. The full-grain leather boots come only in brown color but they look great nonetheless.

You can even wear them casually every day.
Pros
  • Extremely lightweight
  • ScentBan technology

2. Warmest Muck Boots Arctic Pro

Warmest muck bootsThe Arctic Pro model is definitely the warmest Muck Boots model that I’ve tried and I’ve been a fan of theirs for a while. I’ve read many Arctic Pro extreme reviews that agree with this too.

They are so warm thanks to their 8mm CR flex-foam with the additional 2mm thermal layer beneath. A combination of materials like these is perfect for keeping your feet warm and dry in all conditions.

They look great for a pull-on boot and come in three color combinations, bark, camo and brown. To keep them last longer, there are also double reinforcements at the instep and the heel.

Suitable for temperatures down to -50 degrees, this model shows why Muck Boots company is so popular with hunters and outdoors people in general. The price is more than fair, but I’m not that delighted with the design.

Pros
  • Warmest muck boots
  • Great insulation
  • Double reinforced outsole
Cons
  • Slippery inside
  • They run about a half size large

How to Choose the Warmest Winter Boots for Hunting?

Ending up with cold and wet feet will instantly ruin even the best hunting trips. There are many factors in play when choosing the warmest winter boots for hunting, but I will try to focus on the most important ones. By interviewing some of my hunter friends and led with my own experience, here are the things you need to look for:

Winter hunting1. Waterproof boots – I mostly talked about warmest hunting boots, but even the warmest boots won’t help you if your feet get wet or soggy. I hunted a lot in damp areas and waterproof boots are a must even if there’s the slightest chance of wet terrain or rain.

2. Insulation – Proper insulation is crucial if you want warm feet while hunting. Everything over 900 grams will be enough for your hunting boots to stay warm. With insulated boots, you will be able to walk or wait in an ambush for hours even in the coldest weather. Watch out for Thinsulate technology if you want the best.

3. Weight – You want to get the warmest winter boots for hunting, but you also want to walk easily and comfortably. Lightweight boots mean a lot when you spend hours walking outside.

4. High boots – Low-cut boots don’t give as much insulation and most of the warmest hunting boots I tried were high-cut.

Tricks to Keep Your Feet Warm While Hunting

Warm bootsIf you are not properly prepared for the winter hunt, your feet will suffer the most. Spending extended hours standing or walking in freezing temperatures could even lead to hypothermia if you go unprepared.

I had experience with cold feet and toes, that’s why I want to show you the best tricks to keep your feet warm while hunting, besides having good boots of course.

Wear Proper Socks – Even the warmest hunting boots won’t help you if you wear bad socks. Good socks will keep your feet from sweating and keep them warm. Avoid cotton if you can and go for 2 pairs, one polypropylene and one wool pair over them.

Keep Your Feet Moving – Move your feet while you are waiting to keep the blood flowing through your body. Also, a cup of the hot beverage can help you feel warm on the inside

Covers and Warmers – Don’t try to play tough if your feet are freezing. Boot covers, warming packets, and heated blankets can mean a lot during a long hunt. There is no shame in taking care of your health and keeping your feet dry.

Don’t Forget the Toes – It’s a little-known trick that many of use put cotton balls between the toes. It’s a great way to keep them both warm and comfortable during the hunt.

If you hunt in a moderate climate, you just need to get a comfortable pair of boots. However, heavy rains and snow and freezing temperatures require extra protection to keep your health.

Make sure that you get the warmest hunting boots that you can possibly get. Read reviews, watch for little details and make sure you feel comfortable. This way, you will get the best and warmest hunting boots to keep you warm, dry and safe.
