This year’s summertime coon hunting season in Arkansas is allowed only at night and it lasts from July 1 to August 31.

Winter hunting season is a lot longer and it lasts from September 1. to March 31. and you can hunt during both day and night.

There are no bag or possession limits for coon hunting in Arkansas.

California also has hunting laws just for raccoons and it requires hunting license from the California Department of Fish & Wildlife.

The whole state allows coon hunting from November 16 to March 31. However, some regions are available for coon hunting as early as July 1, but you need to check which exactly on the Fish and Game Commission website.

There are no limits for bags or possession.

Florida is probably the safest place to hunt coons without the fear of being fined. You can hunt for coons all year round without daily bag or possession limits.

The weapons allowed for coon hunting in Florida are the crossbow or bow, air gun, pistol, shotgun, muzzleloader, and rifle.

Illinois is a bit tricky since it changes dates a bit every year, but it usually lasts from mid-November to mid-February. There are no bag or possession limits.

However, you should know that during the Archery Deer Season, the hours for coon hunting are ½ hours before sunrise and 1\2 hour after sunset. A license is necessary.

The state of Indiana has a bit shorter coon hunting season. It lasts from November 8. to January 31. However, you can do a dog running from February to October.

Hunting opens at noon on the first day and lasts till noon of the last one and there are no daily bag or possession limits.

Furbearer hunting season in Iowa is almost the same as in Indiana. Lasting from November 5 to January 31. The hunt opens at 8 a.m. on the first day and there are no limits when it comes to bags or possession.

The trapping season covers the same dates.

Every hunting season starts at noon of the first and closes at midnight of the last day. The bag and possession limit for coons is unlimited in Kansas.

The upcoming season lasts from November 14. to February 15. and it requires a field permit. You can also do dog running from January 3 to November 8.

The hunting season in Kentucky starts a bit earlier, lasting from October 1 to the last day of February. There are no restrictions when it comes to bags or possession, but you need a KDFWR license.

If you use trapping, all traps must bear a metal tag with trapper’s information and need to be visited at lit once daily.

Louisiana is also one of the states that practice year-round season. You need a basic season license for hunting and a trapping license if you want to sell skins and carcasses during trapping season.

However, you can take only two raccoons per day or night. During the night you can only use .22 or smaller firearms and during the day you can also use shotguns and muzzleloaders.

Missouri has a regular coon hunting season which spans from November 15. to January 31. Like many other states, Missouri has no daily or possession limit, but you need an unfilled deer hunting permit.

You can use bows, crossbows, pistols, rifles, shotguns, dogs and artificial light if raccoons are treed. Motor vehicles are prohibited.

With a fur harvester license, you can hunt raccoons from October 1 to January 31 in Michigan and trap them from October 15 to March 31. There are no bag limits for coon hunting there.

If you want to harvest your pray, you will need a free kill tag.

Nebraska has three different seasons for Raccoon game. Hunt only season lasts from September 1 to October 31, hunt and trap season is shorter and it spans from November 1 to February 28.

The last one, running season (no harvest) goes from March 1 to August 31. You need a fur harvest permit and a habitat stamp.

The state of New York has separate seasons for two regions. Long Island with New York city allows coon hunting between November 1. and February 25. while the continental part allows hunting between October 25. and February 15.

You can hunt them using a rifle, shotgun, bow or crossbow and a handgun. You also need a hunting license.

North Carolina has an average coon hunting season which is open between October 16 and February 28. You have a daily limit of 3 here, but there are no possession or season limits.

It is illegal to shoot a raccoon during the day weft of U.S. 1.

The Ohio Wildlife Council set the dates for raccoon hunting seasons to be open from November 10 to January 31. There were no limits so far regarding bags and possession for raccoon hunting.

The hunters need to have a hunting license and fur taker permit to hunt. Legal weapons include bows and crossbows, handguns, rifles, shotguns and airguns.

The coon hunting season in Pennsylvania starts on October 20 and ends on February 16. Pennsylvania Game Commission is in charge of the regulations and there are no limits regarding bags and possession.

Hunting in Pennsylvania requires a license and you can even get one online.

South Carolina has two hunting season windows open, one for dogs only and one for guns and dogs. The limit is 3 bags per party per day.

Dog running season starts onMarch 16 and ends on September 14. Gun and dog hunting season lasts for the rest of the year, from September 15 to March 15.

Coon hunting season in South Dakota is different for state residents and non-residents. Possession limit and shooting hours are completely unrestricted and hunting season is valid statewide.

Residents of South Dakota can hunt for coons all year round, while the nonresidents can do the same between December 1 and March 15. Nonresidents are also forbidden to use dogs in coon hunting.

The state of Tennessee has different regulations for private lands and for WMAs (Wildlife Management Areas).

The public land season lasts from sunrise on July 1 to sunset on September 15 and it allows 1 bag per person per night.

WMA season opens in the sunset on September 15 and it lasts until sunrise on February 28. The limit is raised to 2 bags during this season.

Texans can go coon hunting for either recreational or commercial harvest.

Recreational harvest season is open from September 1 to August 31, while the commercial harvest season lasts from November 1 to March 31.

There are also no bag or possession limits for either of these.

Virginia practices a statewide coon hunting season which is open from October 15 through March 10. Bag limits are different east and west of the Blue Ridge.

Easterners can take two per hunter between one noon and the following one, while westerners can have two per hunting party in the same period. Lights are allowed unless they are coming from a vehicle.

The chase-only season is open between August 1 and September 30.

Coon hunting in West Virginia is open from October 14 through February 28. The bag limit is 4 raccoons per person or per group of persons hunting in a party. There are no limits for possession or season limits.

Trapping seasons starts on November 4 and ends on February 28.
